It’s all about the Evangelical Church!
by Ted Lyons
The support of Pulpit Rock Church has helped The Exodus Road carry out its deceptive and nefarious operation in Thailand. Pulpit Rock Church is an Evangelical Church located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is estimated they give over $250,000 towards a false narrative. It seems clear that church leadership is in a coalition with the devious actions of Matt and Laura Parker of The Exodus Road.
There needs to be a thorough investigation into the inner workings of these Freedom Homes. Much has been written about the false narrative of raid and rescue. Organizations such as The Exodus Road have come to Thailand to create a financial windfall for a few organizational leaders and various religious leaders in the United States who help them promote their money-making agenda.
The effort to rehabilitate young girls in a Buddhist country is a false narrative. Most girls will temporarily visit this Freedom Home. They use these homes and programs to spend a few days away from work. However, they soon return to work because they find out that the programs do nothing to help them provide for their families. These young ladies also understand that they are being deceived and are only there to help an American organization and their select few leaders, a lot of money. Yes, these young girls realize they are being duped and used as “pawns” for Matt and Laura Parker’s money-making scheme. These are Buddhist girls, who have grown up in a Buddhist nation!! They should not have to endure the stigma of being called a “sex slave.”
It is also, illegal, and unethical for The Exodus Road to blatantly lie about being a religious organization. The American Evangelical Church is the largest source of donations for The Exodus Road. Matt and Laura Parker have used their connections with religious leaders to create a false narrative for congregations throughout America. Young girls in these programs are forced to go through religious indoctrination in the Evangelical Church.
The reason for the false rhetoric and the distorted narrative is that the Christian Church will give millions to anti-trafficking organizations that will fight for the young girls who are being sexually trafficked. These organizations show pictures, and sexual graphics that make a young girl look like a sex slave. The problem with this is that they are in another country, they come from a different culture, and they do not adhere to so Christian Morality. You see, when an organization attempts to raise millions of dollars by perpetrating a false narrative it harms the entire fight against the real issue of Human Trafficking.
The problem is that organizations such as The Exodus Road, and Pulpit Rock Church are dishonest about their religious intentions. If a faith-based organization would use the rhetoric that they are trying to convert these individuals to the Christian Faith, this would be an honest approach. But, if you call these girls who are working in beer bars, “sex slaves,” this is disingenuous. It does more harm than good. Because, the girl doesn’t want to leave the bar, because she is not enslaved. She is making more money than the average individual in her country and enjoys her job. If you have never been in these establishments, you should not defend the false rhetoric of individuals such as Matt and Laura Parker, of The Exodus Road.
I very much want freedom and restoration for trafficking victims. However, when an organization misleads church communities, schools, and law enforcement agencies into believing that they are on the front lines of doing God’s work, this is a problem. The Exodus Road doesn’t claim to be faith-based, this is what Matt and Laura Parker will tell you. Your biggest supporters are churches. You pull at the heartstrings of innocent individuals sitting in pews weekly. You prey upon young college students in an attempt to exploit their desire for social justice. You misrepresent what God has come to do. You don’t help the poor and the needy. Matt and Laura Parker from The Exodus Road want to use sensationalism! They want to show pictures and unethical images of young girls to church members to raise millions of dollars.
Matt and Laura live the high life. They live in luxury while exploiting communities of need.
