DOING HARM TO CHILDREN! BUT MAKING MONEY$$$

by Ted Lyons

Exploiting Children comes in numerous forms. There is a prevailing narrative that “rescue” organizations are on the frontline of heroic work. This narrative is mainly pandered about by The Exodus Road. Matt and Laura Parker believe they are the savior of children worldwide. However, it is important to question the underlying motives, and tactics that they use. The unfortunate desire to conduct this type of intervention causes concern.

The Exodus Road is an extremist organization. They revel in military jargon and the use of untrained volunteers. They seek an optical reputation of kicking down doors and forcefully extracting children from exploitative environments. Matt Parker fabricates stories and pays others to lie for him.

There is some good news. These intervention operations are typically not accepted by most NGOs. Many anti-trafficking researchers and organizations view these operations as harmful. However, the Parkers are not concerned with the thoughts and concerns of others. They are solely focused on making money. This is alarming because so much money is donated to them by Evangelicals. It’s shameful and disgusting to think these two individuals are focused only on themselves and not delivering real help to children. They should be focusing on assisting families and communities. There needs to be a bigger focus on counseling, education, and employment services that help with basic needs; giving children hope for their future.

Organizations should operate with credible law enforcement. They should focus on connecting children to long-term care programs, and they should be providing services that reduce the vulnerability of exploitation and trauma. Love 146.Org writes, “In the few cases where children are being physically held and cannot escape their trafficking exploitation, we understand the visceral desire to have someone go in and remove those children from the harm that is being done to them. Unfortunately, over the years, we have seen organizations do this with really negative outcomes for the children they have encountered. The truth is that when children do not receive appropriate aftercare, the consequences can be dangerous, even lethal.”

It is important to understand the previous quote! Matt and Laura Parker are doing severe damage to families and children worldwide. These two charlatans don’t care who they hurt, as long as they can deposit donations into their bank accounts. The Exodus Road operates on a false narrative. They give donors the feel-good comfort of being saviors for these children. Unfortunately, The Exodus Road is siphoning much-needed funding away from risk-reducing programs, and long-term care for children in need.

Hopefully, American Evangelicals will see through Matt and Laura Parker. Hopefully, the truth will surface and expose these two individuals for their greed, and the harm they have caused in the lives of children and their families. The Exodus Road conducts unethical operations, causing pain and sorrow to many in the communities they have invaded. It’s time to do a deep study and look at these “rescue” organizations. I can almost guarantee the conclusion will be dark and disturbing. With all of the money donated to the worthy cause of helping children, almost little has been done! Matt and Laura, are not good people!

Fight for real victims of Human Trafficking, not the false narrative that just makes Matt and Laura money.
