Please Church, Don’t let The Exodus Road Destroy the Work of Good Organizations:
The Exodus Road uses false narratives to promote their work, and their supposed rescue operations. Unfortunately, they are hurting good organizations and making it difficult to provide needed resources to exploited victims. The problem with Matt and Laura Parker is that they sensationalize the problem for personal gain. They distort what trafficking and exploitation really is. They deliberately go after “soft targets,” such as beer bars in tourist areas; and they lie about being a religious organization. It is time the church wakes up!
YES!!! Unfortunately, Human Trafficking exists around the world. Yes, unfortunately, men, women, and children are being held against their will; they are being physically and sexually exploited for personal gain. However, the church needs to understand cultural and religious traditions that take place within a foreign country. It is one thing to evangelize for the sake of Making Disciples. However, when you conflate an issue and morph the narrative into a money making scheme, this is wrong and harmful. By using law enforcement to entrap and eventually arrest innocent victims just because your belief system doesn’t align with theirs, is extremely dangerous and un-Godly. Please Church, Force The Exodus Road to Go After the Real Victims. The dark secluded backrooms. The forced labor camps with armed guards keeping their victims inside. Please Church, tell them that gay men, and lady-boys are victims as well. Please Church pray that Matt Parker and his gang of “volunteer cowboy investigators” will get the courage to investigate real human trafficking, and not just spend their time in beer bars and go go’s with the attractive young girls.
Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking is an affront to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s heart cries for the victims of trafficking and exploitation; every believer should cry for these victims as well. However, when organizations, such as The Exodus Road lie about the narrative, and misrepresents their work, God is not pleased. The Exodus Road provides no viable solutions to the problem of exploitation and trafficking. They never use their resources, their money or their time to invest in the root of the problem. They pretend to be a law enforcement agency. They pretend to know more than actual police officers. And they pretend to know more about a countries cultural heritage and traditions than the people who were born and raised there.
It’s IMPERATIVE the church know and understand the truth pertaining to The Exodus Road. There is a real issue of child exploitation and child trafficking around the globe. It’s IMPERATIVE the church is not misled with a “false narrative.” I find beer bars to be morally repulsive. I don’t believe this to be God’s plan. However, we have to be good stewards of time, money and resources. We have to understand cultural traditions. We cannot just accept a “false narrative.” The church needs to support organizations who are providing proven solutions.
So, I would like to point out an organization that I have found to be a good steward of time, money, and resources. Zoe International presents a truthful narrative. The founders, Michael and Carol Hart are upfront and honest with the mission they are accomplishing. Zoe does not sensationalize rescue operations. Zoe is honest pertaining to their Christian beliefs, and their desire to make disciples of all nations. You don’t hear a lot about Zoe International unless you are researching for a good organization to give to; this is because they are not seeking celebrity status and photo ops with governmental leaders. I highly recommend Zoe International.
With an estimated 40.3 million victims of human trafficking worldwide, ZOE makes every effort to rescue children from commercial exploitation. From raising awareness about the dangers of human trafficking to providing restorative care and vocational training for survivors of child trafficking. ZOE does everything they can to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
The Harts founded ZOE International in response to their commitment to share the Gospel with those who had not heard and their passion to rescue orphans and other vulnerable children from human trafficking. The Harts sold their custom home and most of their possessions; set up headquarters in Santa Clarita, California, and moved to Thailand.
In 2003, the ZOE International Foundation began in Thailand with 47 at-risk children. Since then Zoe International has since been granted legal status by the government, enabling the foundation to own and operate ZOE Children’s Homes.
ZOE fights for children who have been, or are being trafficked. They reach vulnerable children in Thailand, as well as, the USA, Australia, Mexico, and Japan. They have been extremely effective working with local and national governments. Their partnerships have aided law enforcement, local charities, and other governmental organizations in an effort to reduce child trafficking, while providing restoration for victims.
Zoe has a shelter for exploited boys’ in Thailand. This is an incredible facility that ministers and restores young boys. This is so VITAL and worth noting. Many organizations do not try to even minister to, or attempt to rescue young boys of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. A lot of money, time and resources go to organizations who want to go and pretend to be a “buyer” in a beer bar. This is where the church is misled on the narrative. Many organizations have superhero male founders, and male rescue teams who just want to go and have a good time in the beer bars with attractive women. (This is just an opinion, but research for yourself, and find out how many organizations are reaching out to minister and rescue young boys; who are predominately gay.)
Zoe is upfront and honest with their mission. Zoe operates a 2-year, live-in leadership school for young adults with a focus on developing indigenous leaders, child advocates and evangelists. Students are trained in leadership, bible-based instruction, vocational skills, language classes, and business skills. ZOE has rescued and restored the lives of hundreds of children and led thousands of people to Christ.
You can give with confidence, knowing that Zoe is going to do what they say they are going to do. They have a proven track record. They are honest about their mission. They have had success! They have brought the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as substantial restoration to many children in the countries that they work in.
